Hello, and today I will be teaching you how to do some simple animating on scratch! Let’s get started!
The Basics:
We’re going to start off with the basics. Animating is creating a picture, and then duplicating it , and changing it, but only slightly. Here is an example of what the different costumes would look like
After that we would create this script:
Now if you press the green flag, you can see that this creates the illusion that the picture is moving!
Animating tricks:
Squash and stretch:
This trick is for when you are animating something traveling at high speed, and it hits the ground or a wall.
Start your first costume normally, and then in the next costume make it a little shorter, and a little wider! Repeat this however many times you want depending on what you animating. Then make this script.
Press the green flag, and it will appear as if your object is bouncing.
Velocity:
To give your animations a more realistic feeling, have objects gain speed as they move.
Pretend all of these “sharkys” are different costumes. See how it moves a bit faster each time? If you want you could also make it slow down after a while too!
Plot:
The plot of your animation is one of the most important things. You could make it funny, or serious, but really try to make it understandable! If people don’t understand it then there’s really no point to it, and all your animating would’ve gone to waste. Also try to make your plot original, ’cause if everybody has already done it, it’s not going to be very interesting to watch.
Well, I guess that wraps up this beginner animation tutorial! If you enjoyed this, make sure to subscribe, because I will surely be making more like this! If you want to propose an idea, contact me on scratch at sharkyshar! Thanks!
